APEX Accelerators Release Program Impact Data Highlighting Strategic Progress

New metrics show stronger alignment with DoD priorities and expanded new entrant engagement

The APEX Accelerators program has released performance data from its most recent program year (April 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025), offering a compelling snapshot of smarter service delivery, sharper strategic alignment, and measurable contributions to strengthening the defense and government industrial base.

Despite two fewer operating centers and flat federal funding, APEX Accelerators delivered stronger, more efficient outcomes across key mission areas demonstrating the program’s growing role in advancing Department of Defense (DoD) priorities.

Results Overview

With federal funding of $55M, 92 APEX Accelerators:

  • Served 26,232 new business clients, an average of 100 per day.
  • Conducted a total of 6,284 training events, an average of 24 per day.
  • This activity resulted in 549,519 contracts and subcontracts.
  • Total contracts won worth a total of $64.9B, an average contract value of $118,231.

Smarter Delivery, Greater Efficiency

Key highlights from the year include:

  • Increased daily new business client engagement, serving an average of 8 more clients per day.
  • 439 additional training events, signaling expanded outreach and emphasis on education and new supplier capability-building.
  • A shift toward quality over quantity, prioritizing strategic client engagement aligned with DoD mission needs.
  • Total contracts won worth a total of $64.9B, an average contract value of $118,231.

Driving Alignment with Critical Technology Areas

For the first time, the program tracked client engagement in DoD’s Critical Technology Areas (CTAs) – 14 priority technology domains essential to U.S. military superiority. The data shows that 35% of new clients served had capabilities in these areas, such as microelectronics, cybersecurity, AI, and space technologies.

This alignment underscores the program’s intentional focus to deliver greater value through support to firms advancing technologies vital to national defense.

"This year’s results speak volumes about where the APEX Accelerators program is headed,” said Khalil Mack, Director of the APEX Accelerators program. “We are delivering more strategic outcomes, not just more activity. By aligning with national security priorities, investing in training, and focusing on quality engagements, our network is helping the Department build a more resilient, innovative, and mission-ready industrial base.”

APEX Accelerators are a vital entry point for businesses new to government contracting to acquire the skills and know how to become qualified Defense Industrial Base (DIB)-ready and Government Industrial Base (GIB)-ready businesses.
