Our Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives aim to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and business development.
To best meet the needs of the Warfighter and support DoD’s technological superiority, we actively encourage entrepreneurship and the utilization of innovative commercialization technologies. To accomplish this mission, we oversee the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program, Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF) and Mentor-Protégé Program (MPP). These programs promote the development of entrepreneurial capabilities, innovation and technology transfer.
We also foster the technical development of defense acquisition personnel through the Small Business Rotational Excellence Program (REP) and Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) training. Through targeted training and experience, defense professionals gain insight into how to better utilize small business capabilities and quickly insert innovative technologies into programs of record (POR).
We are committed to working with small businesses to identify and sustain a pipeline of talent who can understand, build and manage complex technologies that are required to be successful on the battlefields of the future.
