Our Rotational Excellence Program (REP) provides a dynamic developmental opportunity for leadership-minded individuals in the Small Business Professional and defense-acquisition career fields.
The REP provides opportunities to compete for short-term rotational assignments (duration of 90-120 days) supporting various programs and outreach events that fall under DoD OSBP’s purview.
The REP provides challenging work assignments with the guidance of a mentor managing a DoD OSBP program area, e.g., subcontracting, workforce development, policy, mentor-protégé, outreach, Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and commercialization.
The targeted work assignments offer successful candidates an opportunity to gain a broader perspective of small business programs and an in-depth understanding of the legislative process.
To apply for acceptance into the REP, candidates must be a GS-11 or above and submit a completed application package along with a current resume. Applicants must already be DoD government civilian employees and possess an active security clearance.
DoD’s REP Program Manager forwards applications to the DoD OSBP review board. The review board evaluates the applications and, if required, interviews applicants to determine who is best suited for current opportunities and assignments.
Rotational opportunities are at the discretion of your home agency. You are required to go through agency-specific procedures before pursuing them. More specifically, it is your responsibility to initiate the approval process, if required by the agency, before agreeing to go on a rotational assignment. Specific assignments are based on the candidate's previous work experience and current DoD OSBP requirements.
After evaluations are completed, the review board forwards recommendations to DoD’s REP Program Manager. A nomination package is forwarded to DoD OSBP’s director for final approval.
Please be aware that DoD OSBP funding is not available for a participant's salary, which must be covered by the participant's organization. TDY and travel expenses are funded by DoD OSBP for candidates who live outside of the Washington, DC, metropolitan area.
